  • Adult/Youth Sunday School

  • Nursery

Second Service/Sunday School–10:30 AM

  • Contemporary worship service/Praise band

  • Adult/Youth Sunday School
  • Nursery

The big question: “What about my Sunday School class?”

If you go to the same worship service as your Sunday School teacher, your class will not be affected. In fact, you will have the same teacher and be in the same room. If you do not attend the same service as your teacher, consider…

→ switching worship services
→ trying a new class
→ teaching an adult, youth, or children’s class

• First service will start one-half hour later (9 AM)
• Second service will start one-half hour earlier (10:30 AM) and end before noon
• The change will provide an opportunity for parents who have young children and attend the first service to have an option for their kids
• Each service will gain an additional 10-15 minutes
• We will gain additional education space upstairs
• There will be less stress on the nursery

• Parking may be an issue. To ease the stress, we have been granted permission from Acquaint Gatherings (the building behind us—to the west—on Capelle Street) to use their parking lots. They have two big lots and guests can enter through the doors on Capelle Street
• The first service will need to exit the sanctuary in a timely fashion following the service to allow the second service guests to enter
• We will need additional adult Sunday School teachers for the 9 AM Sunday School.

Although I would have hoped that we would have been unanimous in our church vote, we were not. We had some great questions, discussion, and some logical concerns. However, I was not surprised by any new information as this modification has been a matter of conversation and prayer for about a year.
Going forward, I do believe this modification will glorify God as we seek to reach our world for Christ and disciple believers at First Baptist Grain Valley.
Having been your pastor for over two years now, I know that even if you disagree, in principle, you still believe in the overall mission and will help make this transition as seamless as possible.

As always, I’m honored to be your pastor and excited about the future.
